The purpose of Adventist Health System's Leadership Development Program is to identify, recruit, train and retain those business students that have a high level of commitment to providing quality healthcare leadership and a strong dedication to working in a Seventh-day Adventist healthcare organization.
BUSINESS INTERNSHIPS & RESIDENCIES Adventist Health System sponsors summer session internship programs for students entering their senior year and multi-year residency experiences for college graduates with accounting/finance and management majors who are earning business degrees and are recognized as leaders on their college campus. (See below for program specifics for both management and accounting opportunities.)
Contact your college Career Center or College of Business departmental office to obtain more information on when our recruiter will be at your campus. Interviews are conducted in the Fall semester at most Seventh-day Adventist colleges and universities. Candidate applications and selections are done in January. AHS Management / Business Internship and Residency Descriptions
Summer Management Internship This program is designed for students entering their senior year who are interested in exploring careers in management within the healthcare industry. The individual will gain insight into the healthcare industry and the dynamics of working for a healthcare system. Individuals participating in this program are given special consideration for future employment or may be considered for the 2 and 3-year management residencies.

Management Residency Program This is a program designed for the graduate who has successfully completed the summer internship or has gained experience working in their field of study. During this three-year program, the resident will experience healthcare in various size organizations and across the many disciplines of the healthcare system while developing valuable skills required for administrative positions through hands-on work experience, special project coordination, administrative interaction and other assignments within Adventist Health System. At the same time, the resident is enrolled in a local university to earn a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

Human Resource Residency Program This program is designed for the business graduate interested in pursuing a career in human resources. During this two-year program, residents will experience modules designed to assure training in the areas of employment, staffing, development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and other related concentrations. One year of the residency is completed at the corporate office and the other year in a hospital setting.

Supply Chain Residency Program This program is designed for the business graduate interested in pursuing a career in supply chain / materials management operations. During this 2-3 year program, residents will experience modules designed to assure training in the areas of inventory, distribution, Purchasing, supply and information systems, warehousing, and other related concentrations.

Summer Accounting / Finance Internship This program is designed for students entering their senior year who are interested in exploring careers in finance and/or accounting within the healthcare industry. The individual will gain insight into the healthcare industry and the dynamics of working for a healthcare system. Individuals participating in this program are given special consideration for future employment or may be considered for the 3-year finance residency.

Accounting / Finance Residency This program offers qualified individuals a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in the financial and administrative areas of healthcare. During this three-year program, residents will develop valuable skills required for administrative positions through hands-on work experience, special project coordination, administrative interaction and other assignments. At the same time, the resident is enrolled in a local university to earn a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree and/or is encouraged to be working toward completion of Certified Public Accounting (CPA) licensure.
