Huguley Memorial Medical Center Receives "Pathway to Excellence" Designation
8/15/2008

American Nurses Credentialing Center announced that Huguley Memorial Medical Center has achieved its Pathway to Excellence™ designation.  The Pathway to Excellence designation identifies the elements of work environments where nurses can flourish.  The designation substantiates the professional satisfaction of nurses at Huguley and identifies it as one of the best places for nurses to work.

For an organization to earn the national distinction, it must successfully undergo a thorough review process that documents the essential elements necessary for a positive work environment, as defined by nurses and supported by research.  These elements must be present in the facility’s practices, policies and culture.  Nurses in the organization verify the presence of the criteria through participation in a confidential online survey.

“Being designated a Pathway to Excellence organization shows that Huguley is committed to nurses and to what nurses identify as important,” said Tammy Collier, R.N., F.A.C.H.E., Huguley’s senior vice president of patient care services.  “We value and support the contributions that our nurses make to provide the highest levels of patient care and safety.”

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association, provides individuals and organizations throughout the nursing profession with the resources they need to achieve practice excellence.  ANCC’s internationally renowned credentialing programs certify nurses in specialty practice areas, recognize healthcare organizations for promoting safe, positive work environments through the Pathway to Excellence Program; and accredit providers of continuing nursing education.  In addition, ANCC provides leading-edge information and education services and products to support its core credentialing programs.
